The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University was separated from the Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University in the year 2014 as a result of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to serve as a seat of learning and scholarship and also to shoulder a major responsibility for securing the economic development and improvement of the status of the rural people in the state of Telangana through education, research and extension programmes.
There are 5 colleges (3 Agricultural Colleges, 1 Home Science, 1 Agricultural Engineering) and 9 Polytechnics
